Our client is an international pharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutic solutions to serve patient needs worldwide. With heavy investment in Research & Development activities, they collaborate with many partners from academic labs to start-ups, pharma and biotech companies to tackle health challenges.

They recently opened a brand-new Research & Development Institute to combine the group’s innovation potential with a powerful ecosystem and a center of scientific excellence. The aim is to anticipate challenges faced by generations in considering health from a global perspective with the patient’s interests at the heart of its concerns.

They are currently looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic Principal Scientist in Fragment-Based Drug Discovery (FBDD) and Hit-finding with a strong background in biophysics and a keen interest for difficult to find drug targets. As part of their Structural Sciences department, the successful candidate will focus on the discovery of new innovative small molecules for the development of novel clinical candidates, making a meaningful contribution and difference for patients with oncological or neurological diseases.

Reporting directly to the Head of Structural Biophysics & Computational Chemistry, you will use your communication and technical leadership skills to drive multidisciplinary FBDD projects, working closely with other departments and external partners (CROs).

In order to be considered for this exciting position, you will have a PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry or Structural Biology and a strong hands-on background gained in industrial settings (Pharma, CRO, Biotech).

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Significant experience in developing, troubleshooting, and executing high-quality biophysical and biochemical fragment screens in multiple formats using NMR, GCI and/or SPR (and others like MST, DSF, ASMS, AlphaScreen, HTRF etc).
  • A strong working knowledge in drug discovery with track record of successfully advancing small molecule discovery projects through lead identification and optimization as part of a project team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional, and multidisciplinary team environment across multiple sites and countries with discipline leaders, early-stage research projects, and business units.
  • Experience with managing external teams and CROs and with project management and leadership in a research setting.
  • A passion for tackling challenging questions, strategic decision-making, developing and driving creative solutions.

Fluency in English is essential. You also have strong organisation and communication skills and are a proactive person.
